We are delighted to report that we were awarded a community enrichment grant from The Community Foundation of Mendocino County to complete the South Lincoln Street Garden. We are so grateful for the support! We have already used grant funds to outfit the garden with a new picnic table, and wooden flats for gardeners to start plants from seed.

Join us this Sunday to Build Flats and Start Seeds!

3/30/2022

Happy Spring! I hope your gardening season is off to a great start.

This Sunday, April 3rd from 12:00pm-2:00pm we are hosting a Flat Building Workshop at the South Lincoln Street Community Garden.

Come join us to learn how to build wooden flats, about the benefits to starting plants in flats, and to get a chance to practice for yourself. We will be building 30 flats, which will allow gardeners at South Lincoln Street Community Garden for years to come to engage in the whole cycle of gardening-- beginning with starting plants from seed.

This workshop is being hosted in lieu of the garden workday that was originally planned for this upcoming weekend.

We hope to see you there-- please RSVP if you plan to attend. 🌱

Thank you!
Best,
Sydney Grange

Community Garden Work Day

6/7/2021

Picture
This Saturday, June 12 from 10:00-2:00, will be our first volunteer work day at the new South Lincoln St community garden!

We will be laying out the garden beds and preparing them for planting. The work will include: using a string line to lay out the beds, rototilling, back filling the low areas that have been left from the irrigation and path work, and dressing the beds with compost.

If you would like to volunteer please contact me directly at:
[email protected].

What to bring:
Please bring your own gloves, wheel-barrow, rake and/or shovel! We will not be supplying any tools, at this time.

You may also want to bring a refillable water bottle—we will have large jugs of drinking water to share.

If you have any garden tools that you would like to donate to the garden, please bring them.

If you have already applied for a plot, come on down and check in! We are not quite ready to assign plots yet, but it is coming very soon! You can get a look at the garden layout and ask as many questions as you'd like.

The South Lincoln St Garden is located on the South Side of the CV Starr building. If you need directions let me know.

Looking forward to it!
