Fort Bragg, CA is the 1st Garden Friendly Community in the World!

​How do we do it? Collaboration is the key!

Gardeners:
  • Grow their own food or grow food for the community.
  • Benefit from classes, events, gardening resources and being connected to a Network of like-minded individuals and groups.
  • Have access to grow food in a community garden if they lack space of their own.​
The Network:​
  • Consists of gardeners, supportive community members, donors, fundraisers and organizations committed to making Fort Bragg a Garden Friendly Community. 
  • Provides a way for people to connect with one another, to identify and solve problems, and take action related to food security.
Community Garden Management Teams:
  • Recruit gardeners and assign plots in the community gardens.
  • Address irrigation, compost/soils and overall garden questions and issues.
  • Shepherd the community garden to ensure a safe and healthy gardening environment for all.
Garden Friendly Community Board:
  • Provides garden spaces, educational opportunities and the Network to connect gardeners to resources and opportunities.
  • ​Supports gardeners and gardens to function sustainably. We do not manage gardens, we help provide the framework and support networks to help them grow.​

Garden

If you've got the land, you can start your own garden—for you or the community. If not, come join a community garden. There's enough room for everyone to grow their own food.
